Wii recommendations

This is a list made for those that want to get into exergaming on the Wii

Basic Equipment

Nintendo’s Wii video game system

Wii-e1303785739837The Nintendo Wii, released in 2006, combines motion‐sensor technology into game play. The system brings people of all ages and game experience together to play, representing a new era of gaming. The Wii console makes you feel less like a player and more like you’re in the game. Because of the unique design of the Wii Remote (or wiimote), gaming has evolved from push button play to a full body experience.

Wii Remote Controller

WiiController-e1303785689200To make gaming as accessible to people of all ages and all abilities, Nintendo created a controller as inviting as it is sophisticated- the result is the Wiimote. For maximum efficiency we recommend you purchase 3 additional controllers.

Wii Nunchuk Controller

Nunchuck-e1303785772708Used in conjunction with the standard Wiimote, certain games need the Nunchuk controller for additional control options. The Nunchuk contains the same three-axis motion sensor found in the Wiimote, but also includes an analog stick, and two buttons to help assist in character movement. We recommend you purchase at least one additional Nunchuck controller.

Wii Remote Quadruple Charge Station with Four Rechargeable Batteries

The Wii Remote Quadruple Charge Station with four Rechargeable Batteries is a great way to save money on batteries. This charge station contains a four-space cradle that allows you to charge and rest four wiimotes at one time, in an upright position. It also includes four rechargeable batteries, which are enclosed in a mold that attaches to the back of your Wiimote. The Quadruple Charger Station is powered by a USB cable that attaches from the AC adaptor connection (located on the back of the device) to a USB port on the Wii Console or on a computer.

Wii Dance Dance Revolution Dance Pad Controller

WiiDDRPad-e1303785671346Up to four players can dance simultaneously on a dance pad in Wii DDR, so we recommend purchasing extra dance pad controllers. This next generation dance pad is engineered and specially designed for intense dancing and maximum durability. It features a non-slip rubber bottom and durable top-dancing surface for smooth transitions from step to step. The pad is compatible with Wii dancing games such as Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party1, 2 or 3. The four directional touch arrows on each pad guide the player to mimic the instructed moves seen on the video game screen.
