Have fun with FigureRunning

With FigureRunning app, you can create art while running. The app, complete with GPS navigation, the world is your canvas and you are the pencil. FigureRunning allows you to draw while you run and discover new places while getting fit! The competition is not about your running speed or your distance–it’s all about the drawing. With FigureRunning you can track your running route with different colors and afterwards easily share your FigureRun on Facebook, Twitter or any social network. You can also save your drawing as a draft so you can create really large art pieces while you run. Your friends can even guess what you have run. Have your friends motivate you to keep on drawing and stay fit!

Simple Steps to using FigureRunning

  1. Put on your running clothes and shoes
  2. Get a GPS-enabled device (smartphone, GPS watch, or GPS tracker) and an application to track your run (the special FigureRunning app / Nike+ / Runkeeper / Garmin watch).
  3. Look at the map of your neighborhood and search for a Figure in the streets
  4. Start the FigureRunning app and walk to the starting point of your
  5. When you arrive at the starting point of your drawing, choose a colored pencil and start running or walking.
  6. Check your drawing line to see how you are creating art. You can switch colors while you are running or walking. You can use ‘No pencil’ to run or walk ‘invisible lines’ or you can use the ‘Eraser’ to erase lines you didn’t mean to draw.
  7. When you finish your drawing, save it to your photo album and/or upload your drawing to FigureRunning/Nike/Runkeeper or share it immediately with your friends via Facebook or Twitter.
  8. Most importantly have fun, you ARE the pencil!

The Exergames Unlocked project includes a multi-state team of accomplished media education researchers, exercise physiologists, medical professionals and doctoral students. Contributing members are researchers in their fields and have helped launch the use of exergames as tools to combat obesity in their communities and beyond. New Mexico State University researchers and their partners have been funded to research the impact of exergames, develop specific recommendations for exergame use, and implement exergaming programs.
